Are roofing expenses tax deductible?
Roofing expenses are split up into two different categories: repairs and improvements. Repairing some shingles on your roof does not qualify for any tax deduction, but improvements to larger portions of your roof does. However, it is not an immediate tax deduction. Instead, home improvements usually qualify as tax credits, a reduction to the amount that you owe. In most cases, home improvements are applied as tax credits in the year you sell your house.
